Parle Petals came about because a city girl fell in love with a farmer.
Hello, I’m Amy Nelson. If you had told anyone I grew up with that I would end up living in a small town married to a farmer, they would have burst out laughing. It was quite a revelation for me to realize that there was no chance of convincing this farmer to relocate to the city. As our love blossomed, I made the move from Bloomington to Dawson. Transitioning from having five Targets within a 15-minute drive to being an hour away from the nearest one required some adjustment.
I had to adjust to the new reality that spontaneously dashing to the store for a single item or deciding for the fourth time that week not to cook and selecting from a range of cuisines was no longer feasible.
Additionally, I needed to figure out how to fill my time productively. I recognized that I needed a hobby. I’ve always had a passion for flowers, so I thought, why not try my hand at a cut flower garden? After a bit of persuading, my husband, who has always been supportive of my ideas, agreed. This project turned out to be a win-win for him as it meant less grass to mow.
Parle Petals is situated right in our yard in Dawson, MN. I have ambitious dreams for its future, but for now, our one-third acre lot in town is just perfect.
Parle Petals offers specialty Tulips in the spring and cut flower bouquets made up of Dahlias, snapdragons, Zinnias, sunflowers and other flowers. Variety and offerings expanding every year.
